I love the Spenser series. I think they’re disregarded because they’re mysteries and not “literature.” He told a great story without hoopterdoodle words. His spare prose sparkled. I could pick up a Spenser book and be in his office looking down on the streets of Boston. I think I’ll have a scotch.
