Police Officer II Roberto C. Sanchez, 32

Los Angeles California Police Department

May 3, 2014 – Officer Roberto Sanchez was killed when an SUV struck his patrol car. The driver of the SUV then fled on foot. He was later apprehended by officers.

Trooper Chelsea Richard, 30

Florida Highway Patrol

May 3, 2014 – As part of an investigation at the scene of a vehicle crash, Trooper Chelsea Richard was standing on the shoulder of the roadway, speaking with a tow truck driver and a family member of the crash victim. During the conversation a pickup pulling a trailer left the highway, striking Trooper Richard and the tow truck driver, killing them both. Trooper Richard is survived by her 4-year-old son, parents, and grandparents.

Officer Noel Lee Hawk, 52

Eatonton Georgia Police Department

May 4, 2014 – Officer Noel Hawk suffered a fatal heart attack after breaking up a large fight. He is survived by his five children, parents, and a brother.
