PostHeaderIcon Officer Jeremy Henwood: An American Hero

Last week, I reported the shooting death of San Diego Police Officer Jeremy Henwood. Officer Henwood approached a traffic signal and pulled alongside a black Audi to wait for the light to change. The driver of the Audi, Dejon Marquee White, a 23-year-old with a record of minor offenses, then pointed a shotgun at the officer and fired. Officer Henwood died as a result of the shotgun blast. His family and fellow officers from his patrol team were at his hospital bedside when he passed away.

Dejon White had already shot someone else earlier that day before his encounter with Officer Henwood, and probably thought the officer was closing in to make an arrest. But we’ll never know that for sure because White was killed later during a shootout with police. Prior to shooting Officer Henwood, White had left a two-page suicide note. He’d planned to die in a shootout with police.

But there’s a one event that most people do not know about this day, and that’s what Officer Henwood did during the final moments before he was shot. Here’s an NBC Nightly News video that shows Officer Henwood doing what all good cops do.

Changed that little kids life. God’s mysterious ways.

  • JJ says:

The man White shot earlier didn’t die but is still hospitalized after something like 14 surgeries. Nonetheless, it was a terrible rampage that ended up killing a good cop who never saw it coming.

JJ – thanks for the correction. I’ve made the change.

Bottom line, this is just another case of a black person victimizing a white person. It happens by the thousands everyday in this country but it’s something the media refuses to even talk about. Just look at the recent racial flash mob attacks. Hundreds of blacks attacking only the whites. Yet the racial element was never mentioned by the media. But the people know the truth. Why do you think white people, orientals, and even blacks from Africa, don’t want to live around American blacks? Because of the hatred and lack of respect for humanity blacks hold for people – even people of their own race.

Jeremy Henwood (In Memorial) Uncommon Valor In Peace & War

Wow! San Diego, California not Detroit, New York, Chicago or LA,
Unprovoked attack on a proudly worn blue uniform shatters the day,
Completed tours of combat duty one in Afghanistan and two in Iraq,
This USMC Captain gunned downed stateside via a cowardly attack.

Whenever there is police intervention many will play the race card,
Viewing a security camera from McDonald’s restaurant it’s not hard,
Given the lighting inside at the counter & outside the sun did shine,
It’s easy to see that this hero in uniform was completely colorblind.

“Officer Friendly” is a term rarely associated in Black neighborhoods,
As law enforcement is hardly meant to portray anything that is good,
Tell that to Daveon Tinsley 13, who entered Mickey D’s short of cash,
He was dime short as the cop opened his wallet & used his own stash.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, oh how true,
However, kindness from the, “good guys” is neither rare nor is it new,
Yet if the video equipment wasn’t working this story would have died,
And without the proof if the kid retold the deed it he’d be telling a lie.

Soon afterwards a black Audi behind the police cruiser flashed its lights,
Okay, just another citizen requiring assistance, this too would be all right,
Pulling over Officer Henwood put down his window, a blast to the head,
Not from a pistol but a shotgun & injuries so severe, next day he’s dead.

Mention a killer’s name alongside a man who served his country well?
Naw! Just as long as he answers Satan when his name is called in hell,
In their brief conversation the kid said he wanted to play in the NBA,
Then Jeremy said work hard with a smile saying, “one day you may.”

Jeremy leaves behind proud patents, loving brother & sister, must be hard,
“The eyes of the Lord run to & fro.” There! My new Captain of the Guard,
America, no the whole world doesn’t need less dedication it needs more,
Foot Soldiers whose way of life is, “Uncommon Valor in Peace & War.”
