Friday’s Heroes: Remembering The Fallen
The Graveyard Shift extends our condolences to the families of the officers who sacrificed everything to keep us safe.
Officer Arthur Lopez, 29
Nassau County New York Police Department
October 23, 2012 – Officer Arthur Lopez was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a hit and run driver. Officer Lopez was not wearing a vest at the time of the shooting.
The suspect, a former convict who’d previously served time for attempted murder, fled the scene by carjacking a vehicle, where he fatally shot the driver. When officers apprehended the shooting suspect he was suffering from two self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
Officer Lopez was assigned to the Emergency Services Unit.
Oh, look how young he looked.
You’re breaking my heart.
