On December 11, 2009, Deputy Roy Sutton was responding to a domestic dispute with weapons involved when his patrol car ran off the road and went airborne. The car struck a tree on the driver’s side. Deputy Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene. He is survived by his wife, brother, three sisters, and his mother.

Captain Dennis Darrell Cagle, 56

Henderson Tennessee Police Department

Captain Dennis Cagle was the first responding officer to a robbery-in-progress on December 10, 2009. He was shot in the abdomen as he entered the store. Captain Cagle and another officer exchanged gunfire with the suspect, wounding him as well. He was apprehended and is currently in custody, as is his girlfriend.

Captain Cagle died on December 13, 2009 as a result of gunshot wounds. He is survived by his wife, son, and two step-daughters. Captain Cagle was a 30-year veteran.

    It’s always tough to read these, though I think it is important to have them. My thoughts go out to their families.

    There was another tragedy yesterday, especially sad after reading yet another awesome spiral note, which was about Rocket. In Alameda Ca, Billy, a K 9, was shot during a robbery in progress in an unfortunate circumstance by another officer.
